Heavy Haulage & Abnormal Loads
STU builds extendable and hydraulic steering lowbed trailers for heavy haulage contractors moving cargo beyond standard road limits. Our low loader range spans 2 to 8 axles, with extendable configurations with 6 or 8 axles built for transports above 100 tonnes: mobile and crawler cranes, transformers, bridge girders, wind tower sections, long steel beams, pipelines and boats. Hydraulic steering runs from a wireless remote or the control panel, letting long combinations clear roundabouts and city approaches that would otherwise force a route change. Chassis are cut by laser and welded from S355J2+N structural steel, with S690QL or Strenx® 700MC grades of high strength where the design and load case require them, keeping tare weight low and payload high. Detachable or hydraulic goosenecks, pendular axles, hydraulic suspension and eight lashing rings rated at 16 tonnes per side are specified project by project. Axles are available from SAF, BPW, GIGANT, VALX or TRAX in capacities of 9, 11, 12 and 14 tonnes; braking is WABCO or Knorr-Bremse EBS. Load testing is carried out according to vehicle type, project requirements and the applicable quality-control procedure.
